Welcome to our Mother Care training and advanced workshops venue information. Each of our local workshops are held at the Immanuel Retreat Center, just minutes west of Stony Plan, Alberta.

Immanuel Retreat Center

Your workshop will be held at the secluded Immanuel Retreat Center southwest of Spruce Grove. It is a place of solitude in a country setting fully equipped with six bedrooms with attached two piece baths, meeting room with AV equipment, lounge area and full kitchen facilities.

Driving Directions

East (from Jasper, Edson) Take 16A East and turn left on Rosenthal Road (gravel road for two miles). Turn right at the stop sight and the Immanuel Retreat Center is one mile west on the right side of the road. Alternative: Continue on 16A East until Stony Plain. Take the Stony Plain overpass (turn right) and drive through Stony Plain to the next intersection and turn right. There is a large Immanuel Lutheran Church of Rosenthal sign at the intersection. The Immanuel Retreat Center is three miles west.

West on Highway 16 (from Edmonton)

Highway 16 West toward Jasper. Take the Stony Plain overpass and drive through Stony Plain to the next intersection and turn right. There is a large Immanuel Lutheran Church of Rosenthal sign at the intersection. The Immanuel Retreat Center is three miles west.

West on Highway 16A (from Edmonton) Highway 16A West and take the Stony Plain overpass, turn to enter Stony Plain. Drive through Stony Plain to the next intersection and turn right. There is a large Immanuel Lutheran Church of Rosenthal sign at the intersection. The Immanuel Retreat Center is three miles west.

From Edmonton International Airport Take Highway #2 toward Edmonton. Take Devon off ramp and drive to Devon. Turn right onto Highway #60. Take #60 North to 16A. Take 16A West to the Stony Plain overpass, turn to enter Stony Plain. Drive through Stony Plain to the next intersection and turn right. There is a large Immanuel Lutheran Church of Rosenthal sign at the intersection. The Immanuel Retreat Center is three miles west.

Airport Information

Our workshops are a convenient 25 minutes north of the Edmonton International Airport (YEG) for participants who will be flying to attend a workshop.

Accommodations

We now have on-site accommodations available for workshop participants. Very affordable at only $15 per night! Please indicate on your registration form if you would be interested in this option and we will contact you with further information. If you prefer to stay at an alternative location, options include:

Ramada Inn & Suites

The Ramada Inn is south of Highway 16A in Stony Plain, right by McDonald's and an eight minute drive from the Immanuel Retreat Center.

Travelodge Hotel Stony Plain

The Travelodge Hotel is north of Highway 16A in Stony Plain, right beside Tim Horton's and just an eight minute drive from the Immanuel Retreat Center.

Stony Plain

Stony Plain captures the essence of a small town atmosphere. Stony Plain boasts the only shared care birth centre staffed by two midwives in Alberta. Other amenities include:

Spruce Grove

Only five minutes east of Spruce Grove, small city living minutes west Edmonton, in the heart of Alberta. 

	Heritage Grove Park - 50 hectares of natural wooded area in the heart of the City. Nine different types of forest can be seen while walking, jogging or biking 22 km of trails that link each neighborhood to natural areas.
	Central Park - a beautiful log cabin holds fort over this spacious park complete with walking paths, water fountain park and skateboard park. Paths link directly to the trail system of Heritage Grove Park located north and west of Central Park.
	Tri Leisure Centre - a dynamic space, full of energy and activity. 	Spruce Grove Public Library - located at the southwest corner of the King Street Mall has a wonderful selection of books to increase your knowledge on perinatal issues. We are working in conjunction with the library in making available all required reading texts as well as other pertinent perinatal books for your convenience. All books can also be purchased through the library on their website.

Edmonton

Fifteen minutes east of Stony Plain, Edmonton is the capital of Alberta. An amazing array of attractions including:

	Fort Edmonton Park and the Hotel Selkirk
	Muttart Conservatory
	Odyssium
	Valley Zoo
	West Edmonton Mall

Devonian Botanical Garden

Only twenty minutes southeast of Stony Plain, the Devonian Botanic Garden is a breathtaking must-see for anyone who loves the outdoors. The Garden includes an authentic Japanese Garden, attractive floral gardens, collections of native and alpine plants, and ecological reserves, and is situated within an attractive rolling landscape of pine trees and wetlands. Connected gardens extend over 80 acres with an additional 110 acres of natural areas for visitors to enjoy.

The Devonian Botanic Garden is a regional centre for horticultural and environmental collections of living plants and fungi. The collections serve as repositories for native Alberta species and specimens of botanical, horticultural, historical, medicinal, and geographic significance collected worldwide. The Garden site is made up of a series of display gardens complemented by several areas of natural forest and wetland preserves which allow observation of native flora and fauna.

Parkland County

Stony Plain is nestled in beautiful Parkland County. Our quiet country neighborhoods have exceptional outdoor experiences and abundant camping opportunities right outside the door. Golfing, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, boating and more.
