Welcome!

I first became interested in birth, and supporting women two years after the birth of my second son. It was at this point that I realized that my traumatic birth experiences could have been avoided if I not only had more accurate information prenatally, but more importantly, had supportive staff or a support person there for me who was knowledgeable about birth. Meet our four children (links to the left) and read their birth stories, and my triumphant VBA3C (vaginal birth after three caesareans) of our daughter Breanna Erin.

Since the autumn of 1996 I have not only decided to help birthing women, but committed myself though certification as a Labour Assistant through ALACE* (achieved May 1998). I started teaching childbirth education and providing postpartum doula support in 1998. When I became pregnant with our third son, I pursued trainer status and I became a CAPPA* approved trainer. I sought and achieved trainer status through GBI* in the spring of 2003 to further provide quality training to birth professionals. In the spring of 2006 I founded Rosenthal Perinatal College to both train and certify birth professionals.

I have been a staunch supporter of ICAN* since I first learned of it after my second son's cesarean and am currently serving on the Board of Directors as their International Director. I also am the President of ICAN Canada*, ICAN's first affiliate, which I am very excited about. You can read my résumé (CV).

But birth work is only one part of who I am. I am Mom to Eric, Ryan, Brendan and Breanna who are 14, 12, 6, and 3 respectively. I homeschool our children, love website design, gardening, landscaping, photography, writing, and I read voraciously.
